    Re: Classy Move

bama fans already knew what an ass lamar thomas was, he talked major [censored] before the 93 sugar bowl

but i do have to side with the canes here, randy shannon will not let that [censored] happen like it did when d erickson was there

hey, as long as the reports arent comin outta tuscaloosa, i really dont care

those canes teams did talk alot of [censored] and usually backed it up.......the biggest problem i had with lamar during that specific game was the george teague episode

i almost kicked in my tv that night

it was FIU and it started because they decided to body slam the holder after a kick

thats no different than a baseball team rushing the field because somebody just charged the mound and attacked the pitcher

to compare that with using a dead chicks credit card is asinine at best</div></div>

What he said. Or let's compare the same deal with the execution of dogs, or with multiple domestic violence calls. Ludicrous.

The worst things that happened on the Miami side in that brawl was Anthony Reddick stomping on a player, and Brandon Meriweather swinging his helmet (or vice versa, can't remember). Both were suspended games by the university and served their time for their transgressions.

Note they didn't do community service w/o missing any playing time, or they didn't run steps as punishment--they were punished how they should have been punished--with playing time. Had they done worse things (as kids have done elsewhere mind you), it's likely they would have been kicked off the team...but that just doesn't seem to happen anywhere else...and if it happened at Miami today to one of their players--TONS of talking heads and opposing fans would be calling for their expulsion from the team and school.

    Where's the outrage here?

And the brawl was one on-the-field thing as opposed to multiple off-the-field things happening all across the country at other schools. I haven't seen any SI covers calling for OU, UT, VT, FSU, or UF to disband their football programs yet--when are we going to see that kind of stuff like we saw for Miami back in the day?

    Re: Classy Move

its funny how a somebody at FSU gets ARRESTED for _____ and all he does is sit for one quarter of one game and run steps and its ok

yet even though merriweather got suspended a game and reddick for the remainder of the season, for something that happened ON THE FIELD, it wasnt enough

we wont see any SI covers about PUS or F$U because of their older than [censored] HCs, nobody talks [censored] about the icons

we wont see it about UiF because urban is the answer, the zooker was the problem

everybody love stoop and petey so OU and USC are out

but we beat people so badly for so long, people cant seem to get over their hatred of the canes from 20 plus years ago

as a fan its flattering yet pathetic at the same time

When any other program gets as bad as Miami was.

Some may not have gotten that bad as that academic scandal was...but most live in a perpetual state of rule-breaking, and simply get it glossed over by the media. It's sickening.

    there is your key word

the fatigues and [censored] were 20 years ago

while the pell grant thing was bad........every program has had their fair share of such issue be it academic or otherwise......so that isnt so much a reflection of the players or even coaches specifically as much as its more of a reflection on the school itself and also could reflect on the faculty and admin of the school more than just the football program or any other one sports program for that matter

but when you have kids going out and robbing people, getting into fights, using stolen credit cards, etc thats a direct reflection on them, and how they are or are not discipline is a direct reflection on the coaching staff

if you look over the last 5 years or so.....there a couple programs, UiF, FSU, and Tenn, are the ones that immediately come to mind that have had as many if not more problems off the field than any of those miami teams did 20 years ago

yet none of them have gotten the same sort of negative press we still do to this day
